Due to personal reasons, we regret to inform you that Jones Middle School Principal Ryan Montgomery is stepping down from his position. Mr. Montgomery served Jones as Principal for 2 years. During his time at Jones, Ryan worked with the city of Florence to promote Jones Middle School. He coordinated a flag raising ceremony at Jones where the flag of the City of Florence was added to the American flag already on display at the school. This ceremony was a symbol of community partnership between Florence and Jones. We thank Mr. Montgomery for his efforts. He will be remembered for his leadership approach. We wish him well.
Mr. Montgomery’s role will immediately be assumed by Dr. Jennifer Hickey. Dr. Hickey is no stranger to Jones Middle. She was a student at Jones and later came back to work there as teacher, assistant Principal and now Principal. She has spent more than a decade in a professional role at Jones. While working at Jones she went back to school to earn her doctorate in education.
In his search for a new principal, Superintendent Matthew Turner says “Dr. Hickey was the obvious choice for Jones. She is beloved by the students because she is one of them, a Jones Jet. Dr. Hickey’s relationships, real world experiences, and knowledge provide the critical foundation that students need to succeed. And given that she succeeded beyond her own imagination, she sets high expectations for students and accepts no excuses. I am confident that Jones is in excellent hands with Dr. Hickey.”
Congratulations Dr. Hickey and welcome back to Boone County Schools and Jones Middle as Principal Hickey!
